Mastering grammar rules can be a challenging and boring process for many young learners. However, providing games and fun activities along with instruction motivates and engages learners. Grammar Games Galore offers five, new games that will help entice students to learn the different parts of speech. These games were created for 3-7 graders, but I also use them with my older students to review these key concepts.

The Games Include 5 Printable Card Games:

Sort it Out Beginners and Sort it Out Advanced: This sorting game requires players to quickly categorize word cards as nouns, adjectives, pronouns, verbs, prepositions, adverbs, and interjections.

Lickety Split Parts of Speech: In this game players quickly sort words as adjectives, adverbs, articles, conjunctions, interjections, nouns, pronouns, prepositions, and verbs.

Lickety Split Nouns: In this game players quickly categorize nouns as a person, place, thing, or idea.

Switch-A-Roo: In this game, students select a sentence strip.  One word is underlined and players race to change that word to other words that are the same part of speech.  This game reviews adjectives, adverbs, interjections, nouns, plural nouns, possessive nouns, prepositions, prepositional phrases, subject complements, and action verbs.
