Executive Functioning Card Game - Focus | Strengthen Language Skills
This fun card game is a cognitive remedial tool that exercises the executive functioning skills of working memory, attention to detail, stamina, response inhibition, as well as sustaining attention and mental shifting. Players compete to find matching cards - but it's not as easy as it sounds! Players need to find clues in the card to learn the rules for that card, and each card has different rules. For one to 4 players, this game can benefit students with ADHD, learning disabilities, executive functioning disorder as well as those with head injuries and the elderly. Focus is a fabulous way to strengthen attention and stamina - while having fun!
Develop Executive Functioning Skills
Research suggests that children are not born with executive functioning skills, but they are born with the potential to develop them. Just like going to the gym strengthens the body, games that exercise executive functioning skills improve mental capacity. According to the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, “When children have opportunities to develop executive function and self-regulation skills, individuals and society experience lifelong benefits. These skills are crucial for learning and development. They also enable positive behavior and allow us to make healthy choices for ourselves and our families.”
Below you can see a quick demonstration of focus - as well as the other executive functioning games.
I now have video demonstrations of each of the games.
